FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions):

What is Shampoo Ginger?

Shampoo ginger is a tropical plant scientifically known as Zingiber zerumbet. It’s part of the ginger family and is famous for the clear, fragrant liquid found inside its cone-shaped flower heads. If you squeeze the flower, the nectar comes out and smells like shampoo. I’ve even had guests wash their hair with it! Was their hair actually clean? Can’t say — but it smelled good!
It looks like this and if you look closely, can be found in a few places on the property. Happy Hunting!

What is Agua de Coco?

It is coconut water - the water that naturally is found inside a coconut. Fresh coconut can often be found sold on the side of the road or at the beach. You also can sometimes find a good coconut tree (but ours here aren’t great)

What is a Nature Mandala?

A Nature Mandala is a piece of temporary art created from found items in nature — things like leaves, sticks, flowers, stones, moss, shells, or fallen petals. People often create them as a mindful or creative activity, and sometimes they can even feel a bit like a small altar or offering to nature. A tutorial can be found here, but please let your heart be your guide!

If you’d like to make one during your stay, we’d love that! We just ask that you please do not pick any orchids or flowers that are within eyesight of the pool, house, or the walkway between the two. Fallen items from the forest floor are perfect. 🌿
